Searching for a PS3 on sale can be a daunting task. The demand is keeping the price high. It can sometimes be frustrating if you’re on a tight budget.

I know how you feel! I have tried to justify the item in so many ways for so long. To start building a PS3 fund I thought I would begin by selling my old PS2 games. I’ve given serious thought to cleaning out my closet, trying to find some of those old jeans that now seem to be in fashion and see if I could sell them on eBay. I even cleaned out the garage scrounging for old tools and junk that I haven’t used in years so I could sell them on eBay. We even put our stuff in a neighborhood sale to come up with the funds to buy a PS3. After doing the math I had made about $5 an hour or a measly $50. By the way, garage sales will not get you the most money! eBay is a much better way to go as you’ll net more profits.

It’s not just you, I feel the same way. There really is no comparison with other gaming consoles. A primary selling point for me is that it is Blu-Ray. I could not only play HD games on it but I could now watch all my movies in HD as well. That’s a hard-sell to the wife! Once we went to HD with DirecTV, including the DVR, my wife was convinced and we hardly watch anything that is not in HD. At the end of the day it turned out to be easy to persuade her to get the PS3 on every front except the price.

I’ve been digging around for a while and I’ve discovered that to get the best price on the best game system that plays Blu-Ray you can’t get a better value than with a PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! The average Blu-Ray player will cost you $200-$250 but it doesn’t play games. Unfortunately for Microsoft, HD-DVD was not the chosen format going forward and this will ultimately hurt their sales. For me it was all about the hunt and getting the PS3 at a true sale price.

I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. They make you spend much more than you would for just the console by throwing in all these games and accessories. It just doesn’t add up when I’m trying to save money, not spend more.

In the end I had to get outside the box. Somebody told me about unique bid auction sites and I started researching them. There are a few decent ones out there but the one that stands out to me is www.auctions4acause.com. The selection they have for affordable items is far superior to the other sites. The majority of the other sites like it zero in on really expensive things like cars, land and motorcycles. You can pretty it up all you want but I just want the PS3!

After I found that site I know it was exactly what I needed. Two thumbs up as they had the exact item I wanted and I could get it for cheap. I cruised on over to their site an account. I rung up 3 bids and knew I had the lowest and unique bid. Wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t win the first time. It was another week before I could bid on another one. I bid 3 or 4 more times, said my prayers and waited. Bingo! The second time around I won. 1 week later I was unboxing my new PS3. All I had spent on it was $59.64. Not bad, huh?

It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. Once you get a handle on the concept you may not want to stop. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. I’ve won over $1,200 worth of stuff for about $350 in bid fees.
